A/C

Yesterday, I waited at home all day to have my old air conditioned replaced. But my 'old' a/c was really only a year old. So it was really kind of fruitless, the exchange. But they were doing the whole building. I was pretty mad about it but then felt fortunate as I noticed all the other old a/cs, which were indeed quite old. They looked like a/cs from the sixties. Things that were in our elementary school growing up. Which would have been the seventies but still.

Last night, the new a/c proved it can kick butt. But I miss the digital read-out of what temperature the themostat was set to, instead of the cold-to-hot knob I now have. I'm a boy and we love our toys.

Four Square!

So today I spent playing Four Square in Tompkins Square Park with Hammy and Natasha and other Four Square stalwarts. It's always amazing to me to watch people play Four Square because almost always some other grown-up will come around and want to play. You'll encounter some people who have some pretty aggressive playing styles too. And vendettas can be born in an instant. The best killer move I think is to aim the ball at a person's feet. Maybe one day they'll create a rule to outlaw this but until then it remains in the arsenal as my killing blow.

But the real killing blow today came from Audrey. Audrey is a five year old Corgi who likes to play Four Square. Well, more to the point, she likes balls in general. And twice, Audrey tried to get in the game. Each time, her lack of opposable thumbs and hands hampered her as she had to use her teeth instead. With predictable results. Two deflated kickballs sacrificed to the Four Square gods.

Roller girls

On Friday, I went with Arsenal to see a roller derby. All the girls have these cutesie pun names like 'Leggs Luthor' and 'Baby Ruthless' and the like. I have fallen in love as well. Her name? Rolletta Lynn:

Gleaming The Cube

What happened? The giant cube that resides in the center of Astor Place is missing! A sign in the square indicates it is in for repairs. What repairs can a giant cube really need? For those that aren't familiar, this cube is about oh, 12 feet tall? And you can move it. Which is sort of cool if you are feeling geeky enough to go do that. Mostly though it is a hang-out for teenagers pretending they are homeless. This kids of course have on hundred dollar boots and leather jackets. But they will ask you for money just the same.

At least the kids weren't there today. But I miss the cube!

Blog blog blog!

Pretty cool! I didn't realize you could make a blogger site come underneath your own site. Nifty! Is moveable type supposed to be better? I don't know.

I just went to an audition today. Yes, on a Saturday! And it is raining cats and dogs.
